Suicide Prevention

Stress, anxiety and feeling down can affect anyone, and happen to a lot of us at some point in our lives.

Suicide Prevention

A technique of processing, that is shown to be good for healing and recovering from Trauma and other mental health concerns. Brainspotting is an extension of a related and well known modality called EMDR. Brainspotting is done very simply by finding different places in your visual field that also correspond with a traumatic memory or a current negative feeling. By finding this place in your visual field and also by matching that with the feeling in your body, your brain is able to process very deeply and this causes a reorganisation of how you respond to that trauma.

When we reprocess our trauma this can help your brain reset your nervous system and this in turn can help you to calm your anxiety or conversely to start to feel again in a more normal way.

BJ has an extensive knowledge of trauma and it's impacts on the brain and the body. I had not heard of brainspotting prior to making my first appointment, and honestly I was sceptical of it, but needed help with trauma.  BJ created a safe and supportive environment that allowed me to explore my thoughts and feelings without judgment, or trying to intellectualise them. What impressed me the most was the tangible impact of brainspotting. It is so different to other kinds of therapy, you don't sit and talk about traumatic events, it lets your brain process it. After a few sessions things got a bit better. Now 6 months in and my ability to deal with triggers and to emotionally regulate has improved beyond measure, am very grateful.
